One of the recruitment firms shortlisted my profile for Goldman Sachs hiring.

This recruitment was for the experience candidates. There will be an online coding round. If you complete the coding round, they will ask you for technical interviews.

As a process of their hiring, they will send you two programming questions and you have to solve it online.

Goldman Sachs Online Coding Test Questions

Here are the two coding questions asked in the online technical test by Goldman Sachs.

  • Special Elements in Matrix
You need to find the distinct number of positional elements which are either the minimum or maximum in their corresponding row or column.
  • Secure My Conversation by Encryption and Decryption
Each conversation message is encrypted from the source and decrypted in the destination using a shared private positive number key known to each other.

They have hosted their online test on Hackerrank.

You will be having 120 minutes (two hours) to solve these two questions. You cannot pause and restart the test again. So, before starting the coding test, allocate yourself two hours.

There will be around 10 test cases for each question. Try to pass all the test cases to crack this online test.

You can solve this in any programming language as you fill comfortable with. I solved both of these questions in Python programming.

Difficulty level: Competitive level for these coding challenge is medium.

If you are good at logic building and have good programming skills, it’s not much difficult to crack this coding test.

After couple of weeks, I got a call from HR and told me that I have cracked the coding test. After they schedule a technical interview.

Goldman Sachs CoderPad Technical Interview

Once you crack their coding test, you will be having an online interview. Again this is a complete coding round.

They use CoderPad. It is their online tool where they will ask you to write and execute the code. CoderPad shares the screen with the interviewer so they can see your code while you write.

There were only one interviewer. After login to their CoderPad online compiler, they gave me one programming challenge to solve.

  • Group Anagrams from the given list of strings

They usually ask you some programming puzzles.

This hiring was for Bangalore, India location.

Note:

You have to wait for a couple of weeks after an online coding test. They have a long hiring process. After the coding interview, there will be 6-7 pure technical interview rounds. This may take around two months to complete all the rounds.

All the Best!

Editor’s Note: These Goldman Sachs online coding test questions are shared by the candidate. We wish him all the best for his future.
