Top 4 App Performance Metrics to Analyse and to Improve Your App

Misc

A lot of work goes into building and deploying a mobile app whether its Android or iOS platform.

Stat:

Nearly 69 percent of the small businesses who were polled in a recent survey claimed that the app testing and deployment process cost them around $10,000.

While this may sound like a big expense, it pales in comparison to the amount of money a company can lose by putting out a subpar app to consumers.

As an app development team prepares to deploy a new app, they will need to think about what metrics they want to monitor. Using a system like PagerDuty will also allow a team to view error logs and address them quickly. Ignoring these error messages will lead to an app becoming very unreliable over time.

App Performance Metrics

Closely monitoring an app’s performance will allow a team of developers to see where changes need to be made.

Top 4 App Performance Metrics

The following are some of the most important metrics to monitor once a new app is deployed.

1. Keeping an Eye on the Retention Rate

Among the most important metrics, a company needs to monitor when it comes to their app is the retention rate.

What is Retention Rate?

Basically,

The retention rate is a breakdown of how many customers you are actually keeping after the initial app download.

If you start to notice a dip in your customer retention rate, then chances are your app needs to be altered.

Generally, lower than normal retention rates will signify problems with the program in question.

If the app is crashing or freezing up on a regular basis, it will send user running for the hills.

By closely monitoring your app’s retention rate, you can address issues before they cost you too much money.

If your app is crashing frequently, you have to act and solve the problem immediately. Focus on reducing app development time for fixing issues.

2. The Number of Daily Active Users

Once you have a handle on just how many users your app is retaining, you will need to figure out how many of those users are active on a daily basis.

Ideally, you want the users you have to interact with your app as much as possible.

Monetizing App to Generate Revenue:

The higher your number of daily active users is, the easier you will find it to monetize your app.

Most advertisers want to put their content on apps that are getting a lot of traffic. Being able to show high daily active user numbers can benefit you greatly in your pursuit of large amounts of app revenue.

3. Average Time of Each User Visit

The next thing you need to monitor in regards to your app is the amount of time each user is spending per session.

Digging a bit deeper will also allow you to see how long each user is spending on the various screens your app has.

With this data, you can figure out which screens are being ignored and which ones are popular with users.

Creating a roadmap of the route your users follow can help you greatly when attempting to alter the app for a higher degree of success.

The longer your users stay on your app, the higher their engagement will ultimately be. If you notice users are signing on and signing right back off, you need to take a good look at what problems may be occurring.

4. App Event Tracking

Are you curious about how users will react with certain features within your app? If so, closely monitoring app event tracking is a must.

App event tracking provides you with in-depth and detailed information about the various actions your users are taking on your app.

If you are constantly adding new things to your app, you need this information to ensure the additions are worth the effort.

Failing to adequately monitor your app’s performance can lead to problems. By using the right metrics, you can get a clear picture of how well your program is performing.

This is all about app performance metrics. Analyzing these metrics will help you to measure your success.
